LinkedIn is a wonderful tool to share, disseminate and enhance business knowledge from a multidimensional perspective. LinkedIn has provided me the following benefits:

1. Using LinkedIn I have gained a straightforward access to some of the brightest minds worldwide in disciplines as diverse as Marketing, HR, Organizational Development, Change Management, Professional Networking, leadership and Innovation.

2. I have enjoyed from a great visibility, a positive reputation and recognition of the LinkedIn community, when I have assumed as part of my personal branding strategy a collaborative attitude, by being active in LinkedIn Answers where my passion to help, my competences and knowledge have been helpful to solve a problem, reinforce the knowledge about a theme or to make a business decision.

3. From my professional perspective as a management consultant, by making and answering questions in LinkedIn have helped me in identifying business trendsetters; in knowing from different professional disciplines how to assume the professional focus needed to solve any problem from one of my customers; LinkedIn has been instrumental as a validation tool to ascertain the relevance and pertinence of applying a particular practice in my role as consultant.

4. I have been fortunate of making meaningful connections with professionals who have shown a undisputed expertise in themes of Leadership, Management, Change Management, Organizational Development and Innovation, with whom I have had the opportunity of nurturing mutually beneficial professional relationships where our viewpoints around a theme have been analysed, discussed and enriched.

5. LinkedIn has provided me the rare, but valuable opportunity of getting in touch with professionals belonging to multiple disciplines and to different cultural contexts. I have realized that in India, there is a growing concerns for themes of knowledge management and outsourcing; in UK and Netherlands the focus may be placed in themes of organizational Development, particularly Change Management while that in USA there is a growing interest about themes of Innovation and Leadership, and in these days, about themes related with economic recession.

6. I have felt true satisfaction of having been helpful to provide mentoring and advice to young professionals and students to help them to make crucial decisions in favour of their professional development and personal growth.

7. When I have posted questions that have been well-crafted and developed about themes that passionate me such as Leadership, Organizational Development, Innovation or Change Management I have gotten many answers from respondents with different professional profiles and experiences. When I compare the strategic value from the answers I have achieved with the equivalent value obtained of face-to-face meetings with business experts, I must realize then, that by being active in LinkedIn, I have better opportunities to get a meaningful multidimensional analysis of a given business perspective.

8. Being a credible and trustful networker, helping to others to solve their problems or doubts, being sincere and showing to others like you are in your personal life are important factors to build trustful relationships where mutually beneficial relationships may be built with other networkers who share your interests, hobbies and expectations.

9. LinkedIn has been a fundamental resource in building a positive reputation as a collaborative and knowledgeable member of the networked community and has enforced my own personal branding strategy.

10. I got my current job position thanks to LinkedIn.

I am including links to 3 questions I have posted in LinkedIn Answers:

1. Are you satisfied with your Online Life?

2. Have been social networks as LinkedIn really useful to improve your job as a manager or leader? If so, how?

3. How do you use LinkedIn to build your Personal Branding?
